Localism!
It can be a gift and also a curse.
A gift in the sense that it can push the sport to a higher level because of rivalry and competition. But on the flip side, the rivalry and competition that it brings could also breed envy and spite which in the end can turn into violence.
Whats your take on this guys?

Re: Localism!
Re: Localism!
that i truly understand teej... pag dayo ka, kailangan mo talaga respetuhin ang mga locals... di lng naman yan applicable sa skimboarding... in every trip we make to a new place, ganyan dapat talaga...
i just hope lng na e keep natin ang "competition" sa local scene at a "constructive" level... the more we push each other, the more tayo gagaling... pag gumaling tayo, then maybe someday, ma recognize ang pinas as a skimboarding powerhouse...

wala bang respeto ung ganon? hehehe.

Re: Localism!
Teej, to answer your question, yes, i see that thing as them telling you na kanila ang spot na yun... but then again, territorial naman talaga tayo na mga noypi... hehehe
But as long na walang serious confrontation, i think ok lng yun... pwede naman palampasin eh...

Re: Localism!
sorry guys... i can't relate. hehehehehe babae ako eh. may advantage. pero seriously! so far so good pa naman ang experience ko. pero i heard stories. mababait naman ang mga locals. basta be humble lang. wag pakitang gilas. hay nako? you want a story? wag na! nakakabadtrip hanggang ngayon. ang masaklap is dayo to dayo encounter. oh di ba? *sigh*
respect the locals! skim cheaper!
the worst story i have heard... sorry sa mga natamaan... locals ng mati.

Re: Localism!
wala pa nman ako na-experience na ganyan sa sports na to...from where I surf in bicol, we entertain visitors like one of our own, we are hospitable to them and kapag kami nmn ang dumadayo sa lugar nila, we get the same respect and hospitality. Its like we are binded by the same blood..And we feel glad kc hindi lang kami yung nkaka-appreciate sa sports na to..para sa amin, para syang fraternity, n khit saan ka pumunta basta dala mo board mo at may nkita ka ng-skim, para bang ngkakaintidihan na kau..may instant attraction and interaction...

Re: Localism!
Tangina talaga! Grabe ang localism war sa kabilang forum. Bwahahaha as in super locals vs. dayos. Hehehhe there's nothing like it pa naman sa skimboarding. I mean, they are surfers. But I have been to Nasugbu, they are nice people. I was lost when I first went there. Sirus the surfer was really nice to make me spend the night. He doesn't even know me, and I don't even surf. But still, he hooked me up with the locals there. And then I came to know Boyet, Dom, Michael, and the rest of the guys na by face ko lang kilala. They are nice.
Nasugbu is my home beach in the north. I love it there. Okay talaga. May season nga lang. Tangina talaga!
Sana something like this won't happen to skimboarding.

Re: Localism!

Re: Localism!
so away with that mentality kung pwede...
Cheers!

Re: Localism!
Re: Localism!
Relax lang mga sir, hold on your horses..we all know that localism really sucks and that's the main reason why ALON is here, to fix this issue...lahat ng mga sasali dito is from different places, came from different skimming spots..And yung skimtrips, malaking naitutulong nun para masolusyunan ang localism na to.. we go places not just to play but also to unite the skimmers.. wag lang cguro tayo padadala sa sistema ng lokalismo..
